Body Problems and Soul Solutions

By the Rev. Allie McDougall

The trends of fashion and culture, as they relate to bodies and beauty, are an ever-swinging pendulum between aesthetic decadence and iconoclastic restriction. Keep reading.

'The Go-Between God': Divine Presence That Bridges Gaps

By the Very Rev. Dr. Kevin George

I've been reading Cathy Ross and Jonny Baker’s book Imagining Mission with John V. Taylor. The book is an exercise in “riffing on John Taylor” because, as they put it, “there is so much wisdom to draw on.” But who was John V. Taylor? Keep reading.

STEWARDSHIP

The first Wednesday of the month, eNews Weekly features a stewardship article. On the remaining Wednesdays, it includes a brief stewardship thought suitable for inclusion in Sunday bulletins. For more information about stewardship initiatives and support, please reach out to kevindixon@diohuron.org.

Stewardship Thought - Make Room for Testimony

What might happen if, once a month, someone in your congregation took two or three minutes during Sunday worship to share a Stewardship Moment? Not an appeal for money, but a personal testimony: Here is something God has entrusted to me. Here is what I have learned by offering it back to God. Ann Smith’s stewardship story has been told for generations. Our churches are filled with stories too. Let’s make room to tell them and discover what God might do through them.

For the context of Ann Smith’s story, please read A Gift That Outlived the Giver.

MOMENTS FROM...The 187th Synod of the Diocese of Huron
The 187th Synod of the Diocese of Huron gathered October 23-24 for worship, fellowship, and diocesan business. In his Charge to Synod, Plunge More Fully into Your Life in Christ, The Right Reverend Dr. Todd Townshend, Bishop of Huron, called the diocese to deeper discipleship. Synod also celebrated the election of Jacqueline Davison as Secretary-Treasurer and the appointment of Tom Adam to the Order of Huron in recognition of his dedicated service, particularly his leadership in relocating the diocesan archives.
