Bishop Townshend has accepted the request of the Reverend Margaret Walker to retire from parish ministry, effective 31 December 2026. Margaret was ordained deacon and priest by Bishop Bob Bennett in January and June 2012 and began her ministry as assistant curate at St. George’s of Forest Hill, Kitchener. 31 August 2025 when she became the interim priest-in-charge of St. Andrew’s Memorial, Kitchener. In September 2020, St. Columba, Waterloo, was added to her charge and she served that community faithfully until her resignation in January 2024. She has been the chaplain of St. Monica House/Monica Place in Kitchener and since June 2023 has been the diocesan Cemeteries Coordinator.
Margaret has served the Diocese of Huron in many capacities. She is a member the Administration & Finance Committee, the Land & Property Sub-Committee, the Cemetery Sub-Committee, the Insurance Sub-Committee, the Social Justice Committee, Diocesan Court, and the Synod Organizational Committee.
We give thanks to God for Margaret and her service and we wish her well in retirement.
