Bring It On! (Answering the Call): Reflection on my Ordination

One week after being ordained Deacon I wrote in my journal, ‘One week down and the rest of my life to go’. An extraordinary journey of service, praise and discovery has just begun. After 10 years of preparation, involving prayer, schooling, discernment, and examination, the church recognized God’s call to me, and invited me to be Ordained Deacon. My Ordination: From the Outside In

I first heard those words while sitting in a parked car, listening to St. Augustine's Confessions read by the commanding baritone of actor Max McLean. At the time, I thought Augustine's words were beautiful. I did not yet realize they were describing me.
My journey toward ordination began, as many journeys do, in a car.

The world often teaches us to focus on what we lack. The Gospel invites us to notice what God has already provided. Every parish is rich in gifts, experience, compassion, and opportunity. Stewardship begins when we choose to see God's abundance instead of our limitations.

Organist/Choir Director | Grace Anglican Church, Brantford
Grace Anglican Church Brantford, seeks an Organist/Choir Director. The position involves planning and leading organ music for worship; playing the organ and piano for the 10:30 a.m. Sunday Service and for other celebrations and feast days, working with the Rector and accompanying the choir on Thursday evenings for choir practice. Grace boasts a marvellous 3-manual Cassavant pipe organ and a Steinway grand piano.
We are a growing, diverse congregation, encouraging a children’s choir. This is a salaried position, 11 to 12 hours per week with 2 weeks paid vacation plus other benefits as negotiated using RCCO salary scale as a guideline. We have an established concert series, and at least two piano students are lined up offering extra income.
